Andrew Harvison has over 40 years experience within the marvellous sport of shotgun shooting. During this period he has acquired a vast and in-depth knowledge, having participated at some point in his career in just about every aspect of the sport.


Andrew offers qualified and professional coaching skills in a wide variety of subjects which include: Sporting, Skeet, Trap, and game shooting. In addition, he offers tuition or coaching for people of all ages and capabilities on a one to one basis or in a group.

However for the more experienced or self taught, it may be that over time you have developed some frustrating faults. One to one coaching provides an ideal solution to improving your technique and helps you identify those niggling problems. He will work with you to put them right.

As an expert gun fitter and stocker, Andrew can provide highly personalised guidance on proper gun fit which is one of the most important variables in consistent shotgun shooting. A properly fitted shotgun should come to your face and shoot where you are looking as instinctively as you would point your finger at a distant object.


Under the watchful eyes of Andrew you will learn if your gun fits and he will establish your specification so as to determine your exact measurements. Males and females have a different build, and these factors will also be taken into account. He will explain the importance of your grip and how the shotgun should be handled, which has such a massive impact on consistent gun mounting and shooting technique.
 

The stock is calculated from the centre of the shoulder pocket before any other measurements are taken. The trigger, hand location and therefore the position of the nose to the comb and the bottom of the grip are all related to each other. Andrew knows these are fundamental, and he classifies them as the primary measurements.


To achieve the perfect point of impact whilst noting the end use, is down to a meticulous attention to detail, along with an understanding of stock dynamics and geometry. Andrew has been solely responsible for the resurrection of the Holloway & Naughton ® brand of shotguns and has been a World class competitor since 1975.


He has represented his Country for over thirty years at Sporting, Trap, and Skeet on many occasions, winning a host of shooting honours along the way which include: winning the British Open Sporting Championship and the English Skeet title several times over.


He captained this year’s winning English Sporting Team at Lecq Target Club Jersey in September. In addition, he was captain of the 1990 Skeet Team, and this dedicated Team also won.


Andrew has written approximately 100 articles [click here to review a selection] in major shooting magazines which reveal his thorough knowledge of shooting, making the learning process with him fun and truly enjoyable. He is fully insured to coach and is a member of the CPSA, BASC, APSI, ICSI, and Gun Trade Association.
